1. What is Samudrik?
Samudrik is a personal tool for recording and studying hand features — palm lines, mounts, and other characteristics — based on the traditional Indian science of Samudrik Shastra. It is intended for personal, educational, and research use only.
2. Data You Provide
When you use Samudrik you may provide:
- Hand photographs (palm and back-of-hand images)
- A person's name, date of birth, phone number, and a short context note
- A face / profile photograph for identification
- Life events (e.g. career changes, health events — optionally shareable to the research dataset)
- Free-text personal notes about a person (always private)
- Your own account details (name, email) via Google or Apple sign-in
3. What Stays Completely Private
- Names, phone numbers, and dates of birth
- Face / profile photographs
- Context notes and personal memos
- Free-text personal notes you write about someone
This data belongs to you alone.
4. Optional Global Dataset Sharing
Samudrik includes an opt-in research feature. If you explicitly enable "Share to global dataset" for a person, the following anonymised data may be included in our shared research database to support the study of Samudrik Shastra:
- Palm / hand photographs
- Life events (title, category, and date — to study correlations between hand markings and life patterns)
- Approximate age range and gender (if provided)
No name, phone number, contact detail, face photo, personal memo, or free-text note is ever shared, even when sharing is enabled. You can disable sharing at any time from the person's edit screen.
5. AI Analysis
When you request an AI analysis of a hand image, the image is sent to a third-party AI provider (Google Gemini or equivalent) solely to generate the analysis result. The image is not stored by the AI provider beyond the duration of the request. AI results are stored in your private account.
6. How We Store Your Data
All data is stored on Google Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage), hosted in a secure cloud environment. Your data is accessible only to your authenticated account. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties except as described in this policy.
7. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This will irreversibly erase every person record, hand image, life event, note, and your account credentials. Shared contributions to the global dataset (if any) are anonymised and may be retained.
8. Children's Privacy
Samudrik is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
